Forced prostitution

From 1942, brothels in the concentration camps were established in order to prevent homosexuality amongst male prisoners and to reward piece-work of concentration camp prisoners in the war production. The first „special“ buildings were installed in the concentration camps of Mauthausen and Gusen. The female prisoners were brought to „volunteer“ for the brothels by the SS, either by force or by false promises. When pregnant or infected with venereal diseases, they were sent back to Ravensbrück.
