"Black transports"

During the winter of 1941/42, the first selections for the extermination action „14 f 13“ - the continuation of the euthanasia murders in concentration camps – were organised in Ravensbrück. 1,600 Ravensbrück inmates, half of them Jewish women, were murdered in the gas chambers of the „sanatorium and nursing home“ Bernburg. A total of 60 „black transports“ left the camp. Their destinations were the gas chambers of Majdanek and Auschwitz as well as those of the „sanatorium and nursing home“ Hartheim/Linz.
