Ravensbrück inmates came from all social classes and age groups. Amongst them were workers, intellectuals, women from rural areas, members of the bourgeoisie as well as of the high nobility. Relating to the total, Polish inmates were the largest group, followed by Soviet women and „Reich Germans“, which included the Austrians.
